Description: Sesame oil is extracted from the flowering sesame plant, also known as Sesamum indicum which is native to East Africa and India, but currently grown in many countries around the world. It is commonly known as “Queen of Oils” because of its nutritional qualities. Sesame Carrier Oil is rich in vitamins E and B, and in minerals such as calcium, magnesium and phosphorus. It also contains high levels of fatty acids including oleic and linoleic acids, as well as palmitic and stearic acid.
According to Ayurveda, Sesame Oil is especially useful for nourishing and detoxifying and for ailments associated with the vata type, such as anxiety, poor circulation, constipation, bloating, and excessive dryness. The oil is also popular for Indian Head Massage.
