Bay Laurel Essential oil is obtained from the bay tree, an evergreen tree from the Lauraceae family. The oil is extracted from the fresh leaves of the tree through steam distillation. The tree is native to the Mediterranean region and bears glossy leaves and black berries with light green flowers.
This oil is commonly confused with Bay (W. Indies) oil, which comes from Pimenta racemosa instead. Although these two oils share similar qualities and have similar properties, they come from two very different plants.
Masculine and spicy, Bay essential oil is a warming oil and is pleasant to use during Fall and Winter.
