Exfoliating skin: One of the most popular uses of carton oil is deep skin exfoliation. It is therefore used in the manufacture of chemical peels for skin exfoliation. There is visible redness and usually takes 2 weeks to heal the skin. When the skin heals itself back, collagen and elastin fibers fill up the space uniformly. This evens out wrinkles, fine lines, depression scars and raised scars, making the skin look more desirable, fresh, young and glowing with life.
Wrinkle reduction: It is also helpful in removing wrinkles on face. The peels are especially impressive for peri-oral wrinkles (those around the mouth) and of the lower eyelids.
Counter irritant: This remarkable feature of this oil has made it one of the most used oils for skin irritation. It leads to irritation on the skin when applied. This is made use of as a counter irritant when used in the right combination; it actually helps to lower pain, stiffness and discomfort.
Caution: It is strongly irritant and often leads to chemical burns on skin. It can also lead to permanent scarring and damage to tissues, nerves and blood vessels if the chemical peel is not of right concentration. Secondly, it poses the risk of tumors.
Storage: It is recommended to store carrier oils in cool dark place to maintain their freshness and maximum shelf life. If refrigerated, bring them to room temperature before use.
